The St. Louis Cardinals and pitcher Kyle Lohse reached a preliminary agreement on a one-year, $4.25 million deal Thursday. The 29-year-old Lohse played for the Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies last season and finished 9-12 with a 4.62 ERA.
