Micah Owings had a bad outing in his first start since being scratched from an earlier game do to general soreness. He yielded five hits, three walks and four runs in 1 2/3 innings and was removed after reached his pitch limit of 50. He says his shoulder was fine. Manager Bob Melvin was pleased with Owings’ velocity and use of pitches.

Owings said the problem was mechanical. I say his mechanics were fine in his first start. Let’s hope his mechanics have not gone bad because he is unconsciously favoring some part that was or is hurting.

The final score was 4-1 Cubs. Javier Brito got the lone D’Back RBI. Eric Byrnes, who seems to be on an every-other-day schedule, did not play.

The Snakes face the Mariners Sunday with Brandon Webb getting the start. The big news is that The Big Unit appears in his first spring game on Monday vs the Rockies.

This is ByrnesBlogger1's third season covering the Arizona Diamondbacks through the blog Down The Left Field Line: Life, Baseball & Eric Byrnes.
