While the precise nature of Schilling’s injury is not known, it is believed that
the right-hander is suffering from an injury to the rotator cuff and/or labrum
that might require surgery. Shoulder surgery would almost definitely mean Schilling will not pitch in 2008. The Red Sox are reportedly investigating whether they can void his $8M contract for the upcoming season.
